Rev. Kye Moo "Pastor Kay" Ryu
Lead Pastor
Kye Moo “Kay” Ryu was recently appointed as Lead Pastor at Appomattox United Methodist Church. Pastor Kay was ordained at Nadulmok Community Church in College Park, MD in 2013. After several appointments in the Greater Baltimore area, in 2021 Pastor Kay was appointed to serve at Kenbridge UMC in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church where he served as Pastor until June 2025.
Pastor Kay holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology with a minor in History (2002) and a Master’s Degree in Political Science (2004) from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. He also earned a Master of Divinity (2008) and a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Care and Counseling (2013) from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC where he met his wife Esther Jeong.
Pastor Kay is committed to focusing on personal transformation for the people of AUMC as well as the broader Appomattox Community through local outreach ministries.

Sunday
We pray for faith communities and places of worship. May God bless their mission, ministry, and witness. We pray that all will come to experience God’s amazing grace.
Monday
We pray for schools and all institutions of education. We lift up students, teachers, staff, bus drivers and administrators. We pray for the safety of everyone.
Tuesday
We pray for first responders: Fire, Rescue, Police and Sheriff’s Department. We pray for our Town and County officials and all public servants.
Wednesday
We pray for community service agencies and civic organizations. For those providing food, clothes, and financial assistance, and more to those in need.
Thursday
We pray for health care providers, assisted living facilities, and mental health services. We pray for victims of crime, abuse, and mistreatment. We pray for our jails and prisons; correction officers and chaplains.
Friday
We pray for local businesses, farmers, trades peoples and those who work to make our community a better place to live and work.
Saturday
We pray for one another; our family and friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. We especially pray for children, and the elderly. For those who are lonely and in need of a friend. May we each know that we are loved by God.
